Needs Network
A Passion Project.
This student project still holds a special place in my heart, inspired by my brother John, who has autism. It was born from a problem many families face: finding qualified, trustworthy childcare for children with special needs. We started with a simple insight: parents of special needs children rarely get time for themselves because their child’s care is constant and complex. Our solution was an app that connects parents with a network of certified professionals—special education teachers, aides, and trained caregivers—who are equipped to provide the attentive, informed care their child needs. The concept was designed to offer parents peace of mind, knowing their child is in safe, capable hands.
Getting started is simple. Parents and caretakers create a profile with details about the child's needs, preferences, and routine. All professional caretakers go through a verification process that includes background checks, credential reviews, and interviews to ensure every match is safe and qualified.
Parents and guardians can swipe through to select the specific needs their child requires support with—from communication styles to mobility assistance—ensuring that matched caregivers are truly qualified.
On the caregiver profile page, parents can review certifications, read feedback from other families, and even schedule interviews all in one place.
On the forum screen, parents and their children will be able to connect with other families through a variety of chat rooms they can join based on their need. On the special events tab, families can find local sensory safe events.
Still waiting on funding (or a lottery win), so hit me up if you want to make this real.
